The location

Galini is situated amongst olive groves on the south-west of the Peloponnese near Koroni.  It is a very unspoilt region and we occupy a peaceful, rural hillside overlooking the sea, which is incredibly clear.  We are as self-sufficient as possible, using the sun and wind to generate electricity when we can but have the back up of mains too.  We have our own well water, organically grow our own vegetables and tend over 70 olive trees to produce our own olive oil which is available for purchase from us.

IT WAS VERY ENJOYABLE COMING OUT TO RUN THE YURT HOLIDAYS LAST SUMMER AND THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO CAME BUT IT WAS EXHAUSTING WITH LITTLE MAYA ON MY OWN, THE TRAVELLING AND BEING AWAY FROM MY OTHER CHILDREN SO I AM SAD TO SAY I CANNOT CONTINUE..  ROBIN IS ALSO SELLING THE HOUSE AND LAND SO GALINI WOULD HAVE TO MOVE ELSEWHERE, PERHAPS IT WILL ONE DAY...IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS DO EMAIL ME!

The Area - This south west region of the Peloponnese is very rural and unspoilt, the hills mainly covered with olive groves and citrus fruits. Memi beach, with its exceptionally clear water, is only 25 minutes walk from us. Watersports and tavernas are to be found on the beach during the height of the season. The sandy coastline stretches for 2km to meet the old fortress at Koroni. The small town has a traditional harbour lined with tavernas, and winding streets bedecked with vibrant bougainvillea. There are also banks, post office and bike/car hire.

Historical sites that you can visit in the Peloponnese include Olympia, Sparta, Ancient Messini and the Byzantine town of Mistras.

This region of mainland Greece is known for its temperate climate. Normally the summers are long, hot and cloudless. Situated near the coast we usually enjoy gentle breezes from the sea. The winters are short and crisp with blue skies on many days. Spring and autumn tend to be similar to UK summer days with wild flowers in abundance during the spring.

Individual sessions of healing are available with Zara who is trained in crystal, colour and hands on healing, meditation and head massage at €30 (£20) per hour. 

Wood turning 

Courses of instruction in the craft of woodturning are available in Koroni from inspired wood turner, Vasily Apostolidis.  The practical courses are designed to provide the knowledge and experience required for woodturning and range from half a day to a full week.  We are happy to organise this for you in advance of your holiday.  Check Vasily’s website at http://www.woodturner.gr/

Athens

Stellar House, Saronida- a holistic retreat owned by Mary and Richard Evans; just 30 minutes from Athens airport offers a convenient stop-over before either transferring to Galini or departing Greece.
